Station Location

A Public Safety Station should be strategically located in the community, serving everyone, meeting insurance standards and the needs of firefighters and first responders.   Our analysis begins with meeting with the client and governing body as we evaluate the department's asset locations, call volume and types.   Using geospatial, statistical analysis and modeling, input from the department and leadership, best practices our analysis report includes all the data and maps needed for making key decisions.

Risk Assessment

For an organization to appropriately provide for and understand the needs of  the community, a coordinated and comprehensive assessment must be performed.  A community risk assessment is used to assess the property risk within the organization’s coverage area.  This process involves performing a review of target hazard properties in the response area and needed assets. This would include buildings of public assembly, schools, hospitals, nursing homes and apartment buildings.

Insurance Services Office (ISO)

The Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO) is the leading supplier of statistical, underwriting, and actuarial information for the property/casualty insurance industry. ISO conducts field evaluations in an effort to rate communities and their relative ability to provide fire protection and mitigate fire risk. This evaluation allows ISO to determine and publish the Public Protection Classification (PPC). The published classification is based on a scale of 1 through 10, with 1 being the highest rating and 10 indicating no recognized fire department.

Future needs

What changes in the community will impact the organization's services, ISO rating, and the staff's ability to provide the needed services.  Changes in population served and the impact on demand is the number one question asked, but it is not the only question.  CSA will meet  with community leaders to understand planned and potential changes in the local economy, possible department revenue impacts and identify tomorrows risks.
